I bought a 3DO simply because I had a hankering to play Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and though I have the PC version, I don't have a controller anymore, and I really prefer consoles.
I also always have an interest in good concepts that never quite made it such as:
Atari Jaguar
Merkurs
GMC Syclones and Typhoons
MiniDiscs
Super Audio CD

Anyway, the 3DO was way too expensive for me when it was new, so now I got a second chance at owning one.

I was adding to my collection and I didn't have a 3DO, so I bought one.

I got my 3DO and box of games from Jagwarlord a while back. I've always been curious about the system, and the irony of purchasing an initially $700 dollar console(actually $400, since mine's a Goldstar) and a box of games for under a hundred bucks was too good to pass up.

I don't play it much, unfortunately, due to various reasons, but if I can ever get Freedo for Dreamcast(or Mac, or Xbox, etc.), then i'll definitely spend more time with it's games.

Hmm, I am going to guess that one of the reasons you don't play the 3DO often is because you have a Goldstar unit that has problems? Idea Bummer you don't play. I wish more people played these games as they are becoming a forgotten part of classic gaming.

Nah, it's usually because it's a hassle to hook the system up(for various reasons). Actually, I don't think i've ever really encountered any major issues with my unit.

Considering it is a Goldstar unit, count your blessings man, that is a blessing indeed!

Same here.  Then I played Ice Breaker and Bust-A-Move and it became more than just a museum piece.

It is so nice to see that I am not the only Ice Breaker fan out there anymore. Very awesome to see this happening. In anticipation of the sequel finally seeing the light of day hopefully, this should be awesome, or so I hope.

I hope so as well.  I probably won't be able to buy it for a while, but I'll definitely be picking this one up.

When I was a kid, I had the Sega Master System.
Then I got a Turbo Grafx.
Then I got a Saturm.
See any coincidence here?
Sure, in between those launches I eventually picked up the more popular systems, but for some reason I always dug the underground or less appreciated systems.
Unlike its' feline contemporary the 3DO had a rather large library, so even though it has its share of stinkers, there are more decent games available for it and that drew me towards it.

Feline Contemporary, huh? I am sure that you are making refference to the Atari Jaguar? Another great system in it's own right. I actually love both machines and own them both. They are easily the most played systems in my collection. 32-X was a favorite as well. I guess that I just love that particular moment in gaming as there really was some nicely done things in that time frame of gaming.

I too have a jag and jag cd.  I don't play FPS so sadly that leaves me with Tempest as it's one saving grace.  Thankfully it's one hell of a saving grace.

Damn man, what about Iron Soldier, Defender 2000, I-War, and actually quite a few other games. Battlemorph for the Jaguar CD is awesome and of course there is GORF!!!! Mr. Green
