| Just to chat about this all, what do you think about Tokio Autobahn? Is the game worth what it costs do you think? The rarity of the game is insane, but how much do you think is about Hype, or overhype even? |

| I never played it myself, remember reading about it but then nothing. Would be interesting to compare with Need For Speed which was a damn good racer imo. |

The funny thing here is that the game very much runs like NFS, but with the graphics and track designs of Ridge Racer. Fun stuff, I just think that the price tag that usually is associated with it is a bit steep! |

I wouldn't mind giving it a run through, but i'm not in a comfortable financial position, so I couldn't warrant the price even if I wanted it. _________________ www.vgtheory.com |

| Well, in a game of chance, I just so happened to, after all of this time, obtained a copy of this game. Totally groovy man. I did have the title all wrong though, it is actually Autobahn Tokio. I had it reversed damn it. :P |

| I've got a copy of autobahn right here. Personally, I don't think it's very good at all. It pales in comparisson to Need for Speed. I will admit I only played it for a few minutes but If I wasn't such a 3DO nut, I wouldn't have even added it to my collection... |

Hmm, I really groove on this game for some reason, especially when you look at what else it was up against at the time. The 3DO really needed racing games, and this was a well put together one for what it is. To each their own though. I did like Need For Speed also though. |

didn't expect to read that considering i bought it for a couple of quid two years ago, expecting it to be shit. as with banditbalz, i only bothered playing it for a short time and found it to be quite bad really but i have always been curious as to what it was like after only seeing a screen-shot which happened to make it look quite good. nice for the collection anyways. |

Well, it certainly is not $100 good, but I enjoy this game also. Don't compare it to NFS though ... just enjoy it for what it is.
Too bad it never saw a stateside release ... wall to wall english on this one. |

Yeah, would have been interesting to see it released with possibly some work done on the physics and controls! Could have been a competitor to Ridge Racer on the Playstation with a little more work. |

If you think this game controls poorly, I'd suggest you steer clear of the F1 import ... it is much, much worse! |

Neither F1 or Autobahn Tokio are up to much to be honest. Although I standby my assertion that if you squint, you can just make out Gran Turismo on the PSX. Not so ridiculas, when obviously you think that it's possible the guys who worked on Autobahn, could just have easily worked on GT.
As for F1GP, the replays are awesome, however the cars pivot on the central axis. Which does not make a good F1 game. It's a bit of a mess to be honest. Especially when the F1 Association endorsed it. Psygnosis did the F1 '97 game on the PSX just to show the world what to do with a license! |
