Okay, we all know that the M2 was actually never released as a gaming machine, but damn, that is some of the worst news I ever got growing up. Did you ever really see anything that the M2 would have been able to do? The system had the potential, technically, to be the best 64-bit system ever released. I can't believe that 3DO gave up on it the way that they did. I hate to say that Matsushita did what they had to do, but the Playstation was way too popular for them to seriously jump into the ring. It really is sad in the end because it was such a cool little system design wise. D-2 and that racing game they were working on alone looked fantastic. It would be nice to see a fully operational test unti with playable games, but we all knwo that if it even exsists, we will never see it surface. |

M2 fascinates me, what little I know of it. D2 looked to be pretty amazing. However, there is no way M2 could have made significant market penetration when facing the substantial competition from Sony and Nintendo(and even Sega, to an extent). I mean, Sega couldn't even topple N64 or PS1 with the Dreamcast, and it was substantially more sophisticated than both(and M2, as well).
Perhaps, had M2 hit the market in 1995, it might have done well.

I was amazed that Matsushita paid out serious amounts of cash to buy the rights and throw it all out with the bathwater a few monthes later. Some suit made a serious ~~~~ up somewhere, would be good to hear what really went on behind the scenes. |

The fact that Matsushita paid so much for the specs and models of the system and then just threw it out is just insane. There are obviously units that do work, but the chipsets are in DVD players, which seems like a waste to me as the M2 set was designed to be a videogame system. As for market saturation? The 3DO system was still running when the system was supposed to be released, and it would have been backwards compayible with 3DO games, which would give it a pretty deacent library right from the start. I think that M2 could have been a success if Matsushita had done the right thing with it like heavy marketing and advertising. Add in a competitive price point, and things could have been creat. |

Alright, it's about time 3DO has it's own forum, especially one with a M2 section.
You guys would be surprised what the M2 technology went into. From a drink dispenser to ATM's. There were also around 6 arcade games that ran off the hardware. I hope one day to get a bootloader and a game so I can take my M2 to gameshows so people can experience what it would have been like. |

Head on over to youtube and do a search for M2. There are several tech videos and game videos from the M2 on the site. Worth checking out for all the 3DO and M2 junkies. |

Yeah, I have seen that the You Tube area is a junkies dream for 3DO stuff. Never thought to check for m@ stuff though. I am on it man! |

You and me both, from what I have heard it was in alpha form and roughly 88% complete. It is too bad we will probably never get to experience what the original D2 would have been like :( . |

SIX games??? I only know of four which i own the three of them,what other two? |

I have total vice,hell/evil night and i will receive in a few days battle tryst. I still have to find polystars though. |

Ebay mostly and forums...I think i was very lucky to find them and kind of cheap.  There is someone though trying to port them to the FZ35S so i believe it will be very easy to obtain the 35s and the isos...sometime! |
