Burning Soldier
Publisher: Matsushita Electric Corp.
Developer: Genki/Pack-in-Video

This was one of the many games I got with my 3DO, it was developed by Genki and Pack-in-Video and is VERY Japanese in style. You can also tell that they didn't hire a very good translator for the English version as we have such classic lines as "Over 40,000 computer graphics create a super-real screen image!" and listen to the announcer.  But to get back on to my review, this game is interesting for a space shooter, it's along the lines of Microcosm in that the game field is actually a streaming FMV so you really have no control over where your going, all your concerned about is moving that cursor and killing as many cliche japanese alien ships as possible. With that mentioned, the enemy designs are interesting but they look like any other design out of an anime or any other space shooter 2D or 3D as for the FMV, it's not so good for what a 3DO could do, it's grainy, pixelated and dully colored like it was ported straight from the Sega CD. As for gameplay, you have one life so it's an intense fight through several stages which is fast and intense at times and dull at others. So do I recommend this game? Yeah, if you like a decent 3D shooter this one is worth a try.

Graphics: 6   The FMVs shortcomings knocks it down a bit but otherwise it looks good

Controls: 9   Even with the mushy 3DO d-pad it's not hard to aim with some accuracy

Sound: 6 The music is typical early 90's J-Rock, nothing bad but nothing spectacular

Fun Factor: 7  It gets alittle tedious and repetitous at times but with an adjustable difficulty it has some replay value. The action is intense and the boss battles are pretty cool.

Nice review dude. Not a bad start. I love this game almost as much as Starblade. They both are awesome. Starblade obviously has better graphics, but they are both fun to play.

Hopefully more people do plan on posting some more reviews. I am critical to a flaw at times, so my reviews get pretty deep. I'll be dropping a few in once I get this board up to snuff where I am concerned.
