At the beginning of the episode as Kate walks through throng of reports there is close up of a guy with a beard apparently shouting something inaudible. It seem pedantic i know, but could this guy have great relevance. When Locke is talking to Ben earlier in the episode he say "You might pick up something second time around". This may be writers expanding on the idea of there's more than meets the eye, but why focus on this on person with such a distinguishing feature.

If you google lost+easter eggs... it will take you to the audio of the bearded man. played backwards he deos say something..yet I am unsure how relevant it really is. |

i noticed that man too. he was really out of place and seemed to have a different energy than the rest of the people surrounding kate. will be interesting to find out what he says... |

after listening to the reversed audio it just sounds like
"ooh we hate you."
what he says may not be significant, but I think the man is... |

Does anyone remember the heavily bearded man in the background of Hurleys season two flashback after he wins the lotto, is it the same guy?
At the time most people thought it was "Zeke" as he'd become known from the boat in the season 1 finale.

The beard looked like jacks from the season 3 finale. Could he be Jack inspiration ?

Look behind his left shoulder. I may just be grabbing for an answer that isn't there but it looks like the smoke monster, or a hat. Which ever works for you.
EDIT Upon closer inspection the black "smoke" looking thing seems to be disembodied so that's what the writer mean when Locke said "look again, you might pick something up second time around"

That's a reporter's mic. Also, I think Beard boy is probably someone from Kate's hometown who may have known her father...not that we'll ever know, I suspect this won't come back up, ever.

If indeed there is "backward speech" here, I think it then has enough significance to warrant a look. Perhaps this is a foreshadow of THE LIE: that is, could this bearded dude be a 'background' Lostie who got off the island and is upset with The Lie (keep in mind that though we find it interesting that there is an Oceanic 6 - with 2 extra dead ones - there are as of Episode 4-4, a lot of 'background' Losties still around: what happened to them?)
Other options are:
1. Lost fans are starting to get sick of Kate's story, so the writer's are acknowledging that with a "person in the crowd" shouting: 'We hate you!'
2. People somehow know that Kate is up to no good with Aaron - either using Aaron as a "get out of jail free card" or for some other purpose.
Anything else.... |
