Thank you, thank you and thanks again. Just to start as I mean to go on.
This is the very first time I've posted re: Lostcasts, either here or on the Lostcasts.com comments section. Generally speaking I'm a bit of a lurker, I enjoy reading comments but am rarely moved to write something myself. However (and to an extent this has always happened but seems to have increased lately) I have noticed an awful lot of negative comments and many downright offensive comments regarding the podcast and in particular, the podcasters themselves (mainly directed at 1 or 2 individuals but thats irrelevant).
All I want to do here is reiterate what many others have already said and what I am sure many fellow "lurkers" have thought - you guys at Lostcasts, as a collective, have been doing an incredible job of enhancing what is already a fantastic tv show and turning it into a much more interactive and enjoyable experience. Season 1 of the show was mind blowing tv, but having this podcast to listen to throughout season 2 and beyond has increased my enjoyment of the show no end. In fact, I look forward to the next cast as much as I look forward to the next episode.
At the end of the day, this started as a hobby, at no point have we as listeners ever been charged a fee for listening, we have always been actively encouraged to make comment and discuss not only the content of the cast but also the style and format, which is a privilege not a right. I'm all for constructive criticism but don't feel its acceptable at all to personally abuse any of you guys who devote your time and energy to the cast. And as for those who say there is too much umming and aahing, and that you should be spending your time in post production editing those slips and hesitations - I can only assume that they don't appreciate that maybe, just maybe, you have a life and a career outside of this weekly podcast. For me, all the slip ups and mistakes and ear splitting bursts of laughter only adds to the individuality of the show. Its not some polished magazine format and has never tried to be, don't change and don't lose the character. Thats just my thoughts on it.
Just as an aside, a lot of the dissenters seem to focus on anyone new to the podcast, that always seems to open up a can of worms. Thats never going to change, some people just plain don't like change, but you have to give new people a chance. Hate to name names but I seem to remember one Matt Jones' first few appearances going down like a lead balloon and now he's (pretty much) universally revered. Can't please everyone all the time!
So to sum up, I hope you don't get put off by the minority who are getting personal, I'd hate to see this podcast stop as a result of it. I feel like we are on a bit of a journey as Lost watchers and Lostcast listeners (cue slowly building triumphant fanfare) and hope that we see this through right to the end of season 6 together.
I know i'm by no means the first to have said this but wanted to take the opportunity to post it on the forum.

I appreciate the kind words. Trust me, nothing will change about the cast. Mostly beacuse we are unprofessional and lazy. We're just having fun and are happy other people have fun listening. _________________ This message has been approved by Matt Jones. |

Right on, I too greatly enjoy the mere fact you guys have been able to pull off as many casts as you have...pretty damn impressive for a bunch of self-proclaimed 'unprofessionals and lazy' people. ; )
Thank you guys (and gal).
Peace. _________________ "I dust a bit...in addition, I am at the moment writing a lengthy indictment against our century. When my brain begins to reel from my literary labors, I make an occasional cheese dip."

I totally agree with chicoquando. You have a great podcast - funny, entertaining and insightful. Your fans realize that you do the cast out of love for the show and dedication to your fans. I've sent your url to many friends and family because you do such a great job of summarizing the episodes and bringing together all sorts of information. And you have such great links to other sites.
Thanks again. |

Endless thanks guys! I've been listening religiously since the start of season 3, and your podcasts have, for me, become an intrinsic part of the experience of watching the show. |

Yes I have started listening to this at the beginning of season 4 but I listened to all the archives as well.
I say keep up the good work.
You guys even knew about the DOC and Buffy off the top of your heads--where else can you get that kind of range? |

Yeah just wanna say its good to listen to a fan based podcast on such a hit show. Its great listening to D&C's podcast but they're the creators and already know whats happening, so any speculation they do is just humouring the listener, you guys really get our minds working on some pretty good theories. Hope to hear more form you's in the future... Stay Lost :p _________________ 108 |
