So, it's pretty common knowledge that we'll be seeing Libby this episode. The question I have is that since we can assume the flashbacks and the main storyline take place AFTER she died, this wont be just some standard cross over?
My betting is that she visits Michael off island in the same way Charlie visited Hurley - as a manifestation of his conscience, telling him to go back and help his friends. I'm also willing to bet that Jack, Kate, Sun and Sayid will eventually have similar visitations from long dead Losties to act in the same way and get them back to that Island.
If the Island knows our Losties then it'll know the best form to take to bring them back. So, what do you think... Boone visiting Jack, Shannon for Sayid, Claire for Kate and Jin for Sun? Maybe even Annie for Ben?

LemonDrink, contrary to what you wrote, I had no idea that was the case and your mention in the topic heading was hard to avoid...thus the spoiler edit to your post. _________________ "I dust a bit...in addition, I am at the moment writing a lengthy indictment against our century. I apologise. It didn't cross my mind as the casting news has been released officially by ABC and I was under the mistaken impression this section would be suitable for spoilers since it's not aired yet and I didn't expect anyone to come in who didn't want to be spoiled. My mistake.
Right on, thanks for being cool about it. And you make a decent point. _________________ "I dust a bit...in addition, I am at the moment writing a lengthy indictment against our century. When my brain begins to reel from my literary labors, I make an occasional cheese dip."
Ok, after the event I'm slightly unsure. She definitely seemed like the disillusioned imaginings of a man driving himself crazy with guilt... but can you imagine them bring her back for such a minor reason? They definitely should've done more with her, but add that to the list of things about this episode that were distinctly underwhelming.
Still, for now, I'm sticking by my half baked idea. Dead people from the Island will continue to pester our off-island Losties and badger them about going back. I just hope they're more exciting and substantial than Libby's.
I found it underwhelming, also, but it is nice to see characters pop up again. I hope that they took advantage of her presence in Hawaii to film some other more telling scenes that we will see later.
I think she was Michael's subconscious. I don't see how she could be the island, as it does not seem to benefit the island for Michael NOT to set off the fake bomb. I mean, it's a fake. What did it matter either way? This does not seem to be the same thing as Hurley's encounter with Charlie in Episode 4.01. He was encouraging Hurley to return. She encourages Michael not to do "it." What "it" is was not made clear, but most people I've talked with believe she was referencing pressing the execute button. That sounds like guilt to me; Michael doesn't want to add to his body count. Libby haunts him because he killed her, but that's all Michael, not the island. _________________ Go Bolts!
