I'm in the UK. What are the odds I can stay the hell out of this thread until I get the chance to 'acquire' this episode? Not good. |

WOW! Didn't see that coming ...
Is this a flashback or a flashforward? Where is Michael? They showed a nice screenshot of some city skyline ... _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

It's a flashback ... after Walt & Michael get off the Island, but prior to Mr. Smiley's death.
Nice trick showing Walt in the window ...
It doesn't appear that they experienced any significant time-shift while getting off the Island. _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

Does michael know what will happen to the freighter crew when they get near the island? How does he know about the "cabin fever"?
Also, is the black box on the freighter the fake or the real one? Lapidus could have brought it back from the Island. _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

1. Solid but not great episode
2. Love another reference to the Island being in control
3. So we see why Sayid ends up working for Ben
4. Tom was the gay character after all. There was something to the "not my type" line he used on Kate
5. How did the freighties get to the island so quick after Michael was turned in?
6. What is Widmore's big picture plan for the Island? _________________ Jackie |

Are we supposed to conclude that Karl & Danielle were killed by the Freighties, after Ben's whole speech about "good guys" and "not killing innocent people"? _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

Regardless of WHO killed them (which I think is seriously open to question at this point).
They have a lot of gall killing off Delenn of the Minbari! Who do they think they are??? |

whoa...Michael as Ben's pawn again, I knew it.
Couldn't tell if there was any significant indication whether a time shift or time travel came into play.
Rousseu shot too, is she dead? will we ever get her story now?
So...the island is pretty powerful.
Lupidus seemed a little more informed than we have been led to believe, is he deceiving Sayid and Desmond?
Ole' Tom's been outed, how about that...a little wink at the chatter about Tom's sexuality during Kate's shower scene in Season 3? Or was he written as gay from the beginning?
I'm going out on a limb here, but....I think Aaron is one of the Oceanic 6.
Was Libby's appearance simply the manisfestation of Michael's guilty subconscious? Or was she really there, ala Charlie?
Dude, Sayid feels perty damn confident Michael has done the wrong thing by working for Ben...and we know he eventually follows suit, simply reconfirming what we already know: Ben is one convincing SOB, just like Miles said.
Loved the music in this episode, it set the right tone and pace, a lot mysterious and a lot of tense build up and a little epic sweep here and there.
Best scene: Tom coming out of the shadows right as Michael is frantically trying to load the gun in order to shoot himself, dark alley, Tom looking sinister. Very film noir. _________________ "I dust a bit...in addition, I am at the moment writing a lengthy indictment against our century. @ JackedUp,
The "Island in Control" reference was great ... Michael testing that theory was awesome!!!
I think the Freighties on the Island now were brought over on Lapidus's errand (referenced last ep, I think) ... Probably brought Keamy & his squad to the Island.
BTW, skeet shooting with machine guns was cool!
Do you believe Ben or Widmore? Who is telling the truth? Or are they both lying? _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

@ Chris,
Michael's mom made a reference to him & Walt missing for a "more than 2 months" ... Not enough of a time-shift to explain "Taller Walt".
I think Rousseau is dead ... I gotta believe we get her backstory when they do an Alex flashback.

HAHAHAHAHAHA ... He MAY be one of the "O6"
I think Libby was simply Michael's guilty conscience ... What about Ana Lucia? No love for Michelle Rodriguez _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

One thing seems to be certain:
Ben's coordinates to Michael did get them off the island. Ben seems to have told the truth in that regard, right?
This seems pretty big to me. Confirmed non-lie. Of course, he may very well have known in advance he would need someone off island, or maybe Jacob told Ben, because the island told/is Jacob. Hmmm. _________________ "I dust a bit...in addition, I am at the moment writing a lengthy indictment against our century. Well it was Ok, not great but ok.
So it was Karl AND Danielle that got offed. Not sure they are dead or not. Probably. Hopefully we'll still get Danielles back story. I'm sure D&C promised we would. But who shot them ? Freightees or Others. I figure the Freightees as we were given the scene of Keamy shooting clays. Foreshadowing ? Was this the errand Lapidis was running -- getting Keamy to the island ?
Micheals back-story was interesting but not stunningly so.
And my crackpot theory of the week .... the Captain is working for Ben also. Or certainly knows that Kevin Johnson is not Kevin Johnson. _________________ Mark B.

If Danielle is dead then I'm totally pissed off with the Lost writers.
Is this a way of not explaining her back story ?
Oh, and Tom - I had to laugh out loud at that.Fantastic. |

I can't help but feel disappointed by that episode. As has been said, it was certainly very interesting but it wasn't as good as a Michael's catch up episode should've been. I'm really hacked off we didn't at least see or have explained just how that tiny boat got them to rescue. Did a ship pick them up? If so, how did they keep them quiet? Really unsatisfying. |

I posted this on the main site, but I'll reproduce it here as it'll probably get lsot in a sea of abuse about Tasha, or something...
Oh dear, that was distinctly underwhelming. To summarise:
* No explanation of just HOW Michael and his tiny boat got anywhere near NY. Did they get picked up? Did he just pootle along until he saw the Statue of Liberty?
* Absolutely zero side effects from leaving the island, after all the bluster about people getting sick when crossing the border. As a result, they had to lamely hide the gigantic Malcolm Kelly rather than give us the cool 'Taller Walt' story now.
* Nothing interesting happening on the freighter, at all.
* Sayid is a fucking TATTLE TALE, now?
* What should be an exciting ending was just lame and clumsily handled.
It's still Lost and it's still great - but based on the other episodes this just didn't quite make the grade, especially since it had such mythology heavy themes to play with. Things like Tom turning up and being awesome and talking about The Island not letting Michael kill himself are very cool, but the episode as a whole just wasn't good enough to hang it all from. Ji Yeon was much more skilfully crafted and satisfying than this, and that disappoints me greatly. |

I agree that Ben seems to be telling the truth as of late, but I am still not sure if this is a set-up by Ben to support some future bigger lie (probably wrt Widmore) ... Ben's actions to bring people over to his side (Locke, Michael, Sayid, etc.) reminds me of CIA Agents turning people into contacts/double-agents.
Also, this war between Ben & Widmore seems to be developing a very interesting theme ... "Amorality (Ben) vs. Immorality (Widmore)" _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

I think in regards to Ben whether he is telling truth or lies is unimportant. What is important is what will happen from what he says.
A couple of lines from the movie The Matrix that bring up my poiont
Oracle: I'd ask you to sit down, but your not going to anyway. And don't worry about the vase.
Neo: What vase?
Oracle: That vase.
Neo: I'm sorry.
Oracle: I said don't worry about it. I'll get one of my students to fix it.
Neo: How did you know?
Oracle: What's really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything. |
