I'm just wondering are people going to be disappointed now that Lost is revealing itself quicker?

What I mean is there are some crazy theories going all the time, and as we are learning quickly- it's simpler than people are trying to make it in many cases.

Two Cases in Point:

1- Oceanic 6- It's Aaron, plain and simple Aaron.  Many of us, including myself, thought it couldn't be Aaron- for me, I was hoping for one more "survivor".  And Aaron- well, he doesn't count to me- in that he really isn't interactive with the group.  I have no feelings for the character.  So I really only consider it being 5 people then that we will learn about.  And yes that disappoints me.

2- "The Man" on the boat is Michael-  Now for me this was very obvious- the reason he was there I hadn't known (ok never really thought about)- but there was a large group who thought it HAD to be someone else, it was TOO obvious to be that.

And what happens when more things become so simple to solve- that people's imagination will have gone too far and the reveal won't be as big as they'd expect?

Me, personally, I'm along for the ride.  I enjoy speculating, but find many answers exactly as I would expect them (Michael is the spy; he is the man in the coffin in a poor black neighbor hood that none of the losties care to visit once he's killed himself; etc) - And more importantly get blindsided often enough that I can't wait to see what happens next (Last night, I got so into the show I forgot someone had to die!).

I enjoy the show where ever the writers care to take us.  I just hope there isn't a big revolt because some people over think this show and it doesn't meet their skewed expectations...

My highly devalued 2-cents...  Very Happy

I am pretty much of the same opinion as GatorRock ... I too am along for the ride. I obviously enjoy the speculation/theorizing aspect by the LOST community, proven by my activity on this site.

I think this will be a major problem that the TPTB will be facing towards the end of the series ... As they have stated previously, the story of LOST is like a "big puzzle". The problem with a puzzle, is that, the mystery of what that puzzle's picture is, is pretty much gone prior to the completion of that puzzle ... In other words, the "shock & awe" value of resolving various mysteries in LOST will continue to diminish as we get a clearer view of the LOST "puzzle".

As far as my expectations go, I always temper them in comparison to the speculation/theorizing that goes on.

i think its quite funny how , very often its the fact that its the obvious plain simple answers to some of the questions lost poses that people dont see coming.
I mean people , much like myself dont want to believe something that is so obvious when it comes to lost but its  funny that when the simple answer is revealed its not seen coming because of all the speculation and theorising that goes on. I think things like the oceanic 6 and michael on the boat are great examples of this. . and its a lesson that we shouldnt over analyse certain aspects of the show.
That being said... other aspects are just crazy! Razz

Great topic GatorRock...a similar thought crossed my mind while perusing some of the reactions on DarkUFO.

My opinion is that we will see a steady increase in disappointed die-hard fans. Especially fans that have become very enthralled by their own notions of what the answers are or should be to the many mysteries of the island.

And yes, I have caught myself thinking too far out there and subsequently been 'let down' by the simplicity of certain situations. I.e. for a brief moment when Michael said "I'm here to die" I conjured a grand cosmic conspiracy centered around fate and predestination. While those themes are common throughout the series, they might not be used in direct correlation with the plot and ultimate climax of the story.

But I am on board for the duration as well, I still think we are seeing a terrific show that is well written, well acted, and ultimately more satisfying than most.

I for one, I am greatful for the reveals.  I am tired of the multiple mysteries (>150) and being strung along.
Could they lose me?....Sure.  But it would probably be by adding more mysteries and convoluting things even more.

Yeah, but the major mysteries are still there.  What is the island?  How does its power work?  What is the smoke?  Who are the Others?  How did they get there?  Why do things (planes, boats, balloons, helicopters) all crash into the island?  What is the giant stone foot?!

As for Michael being the man on the boat... while retrospectively many will claim it was obvious, there WAS a vigorous discussion on here about it being plenty of other people!

I think Lost is kind of working like Ben now: some direct truth, some manipulation.  The next time it's obviously person XYZ who we all know will be the one that did such and such... will we get a surprise???

It wil be ironic if LOST starts loosing viewers for giving answers. The main reason they lost viewers before was because they didn't give answers.
