As the subject might suggest... I didn't love this episode, and that's okay. I felt it acted to move along the plot, just not necessarily in a very interesting way--I'm reminded of how a cop (or stormtrooper in Mos Eisley) says "move along, move along...."
I thought that the flashback information was ultimately not filled with a lot of information. It was neat to find out that Michael and Walt "snuck back in" to the world, and certainly seeing Tom was a shock--I had to check out Lostpedia to refresh my memory that Michael's flashback was before Tom died, not that Tom is alive again. (It also was a nice touch that Lost said "oh, and Tom's gay, now we're moving on because it's no big deal.")
This isn't to say it was a bad episode, just not particularly interesting. Frankly, I was more into the Sun and Jin romance-that-wasn't in their flash-back/forward last week--that had emotional appeal. This episode... I'm just "eh" about. The Freighties seem to be nice while boarding the boat... eh, everyone is nice at some point. Michael is extremely depressed because he killed two people and sold out his friends... eh, yeah, he should be.
Even the zingers at the end were just okay: Sayid tells the Captain! Well, that does cut Ben off at the knees (and if I'm the guy playing Michael, I'm hoping that I don't get killed off soon), so that's fun. And Rousseau being shot was kind of a shock... but Locke's been shot, Charlie strung up, Naomi had a collapsed lung... I'd say she's not dead.
So, to sum up... I'd be annoyed if the strike ended the season with this episode, but I'll lovingly wait for more fun in April! _________________ "So we saved the world together for a while, and that was lovely." --Desmond

I would assume the captian already knows about Michael. You don't put together an elite crew of people to capture a one of a kind island and not know everyone on the boat down to the lowest man.
Maybe he didn't know that ben got to him but he probably knew he was Michael.
I would also assume this dosn't hurt ben any as been isn't in a positon to communicate right now, and he told michael to break the communications room. From that i would assume ben never intended to talk to michael on the boat again.

A fair enough point... but perhaps Michael has the real bomb in his foot locker, or has further instructions.
I also don't necessarily agree with the idea that the entire boat is a crack commando team where Gault knows everyone's background. The boat is a dump, the commandos look like Blackwater guns for hire, and perhaps it's all just meant to fly under the radar. Like Naomi suggested, not everyone knows everything, so to have a lowly deckhand in the person of Michael and to tell him diddley squat about a magic island might appear to be a sealed situation. _________________ "So we saved the world together for a while, and that was lovely." --Desmond
