Wasn't quite sure where to post this so feel free to move it moderators.

One of my favourite films 'The Andromeda Strain' is now a new
miniseries. Our very own Daniel Dae Kim is in it.

Its a Hollywood remake of a classic (imo) so beware.

Weird to see Kim speak english as I've only ever seen him on Lost.

Thanks for the heads-up, Tahir!

FYI ... In the US, The Andromeda Strain miniseries will be broadcast on A&E over Memorial Day weekend.

Is this the story where the scientific team is assembled, based on one of the main character's academic paper, which he himself does not believe-in?

If I remember correctly, he pretty much wrote the paper to get some grant money or some shallow reason like that ... I can't remember if that is a story element in "The Andromeda Strain" or "Sphere".

Ya know, both the novel and the movie feature one of the greatest (and by greatest, I mean lousy) deus ex machinas of modern memory.  I won't spoil anything for anyone who hasn't read/seen/remembered.

Nonetheless, I'll check out the miniseries.  It's a great premise, and the movie actually is quite good!  Robert Wise directed, didn't he?

@ Matt,

I read the Crichton novel a while back, but I do remember the ending of which you speak ... Wink
