I am trying to figure out what that might mean.

Could it be that they actual did die in the plane crash? but come to be living on the island? Like a living man can come up dead on the islands shore.

Could it be how they get off the island?

Could it be whats to come?  To save the island they will inevitably have to die?

or the ranting of a mad man who's been talking to a dead guy for reasons he can't comprehend?

TPTB have consistently said they are not all dead. I think it's something Hurley said

a. because he's a bit bonkers
b. a shout to the fans

I didn't necessarily mean it as they are dead or ghosts of sorts.  I meant in the sense that the orchid video where there were  2 of the same rabbit.  it seems possible that one could end up dead while the other is still living and still be the same rabbit.  a bit confusing sounding and probably not likely but a thought.

that beeing said I am leaning to the bonkers as well.

Edit

They only reason i want to look further into this statement is because Hurley says he is talking to Charlie like every day.  That seems like a lot of talking.  I would imagine that some of it is just 1 friend talking to another, some of it is Hurley trying to ignore him,  but i would assume a fair amount of it is about the situation which means that Hurley probably has quite a bit more incite to whats going on than anyone else.
