someone posted a question about this and I almost went off on them about not counting Aaron as one of the Oceanic 6 - but then I thought it through.

The "story" as told (now twice) by Jack includes 8 survivors from the plane crash and then 2 of them eventually dying.  But the math is wrong.

I know 6 make it off the island... but only 5 of those six actually survived the plane crash... Aaron was not yet born... so that means THREE people didn't make it off the island but survived the crash.  we should be asking about who the other 3 were... not 2.

I listened to "the transmission" podcast earlier this week... their show is based in hawaii and often they refer to some shooting details they observe.  One of the notes they make was on some scenes they saw filmed but did not make it into the final cut.  This makes these details not necessarily "cannon" but talking points nonetheless.

in one of these "cutting room floor" scenes they saw a reporter ask jack this same specific question about "shouldn't there be 3 other people not 2?" and Jack quickly backpedalled and answered that yes, there were three... and they were Charlie Pace, Boone Carlyle, and Libby.  jack said that they never knew Libby's last name b/c she was suffering from amnesia and died before they could find out her last name.

this is interesting, considering they all actually DID die on the island.  They also have all "appeared" to others in mysterious ways.  Charlie & Libby seem to make some level of sense being that they have been important.  But Boone?  he always struck me as some pretty boy foil to Shannon - but an otherwise meaningless sidekick to Locke's hatch adventures.  he just struck me as a throwaway character in this story, you know, like kate.  so what's his greater significance?

According to the Official Lost Podcast, the rerun of "No Place Part 1" next Thursday will include an extended press conference, including the question about the 8 who survived.  If indeed that is the case, then the information you're making reference to will become cannon, methinks.

well, remember that Boone was about the first character to make a Ecko/Christian/Charly kind of appearance as being a spokesmen for the island once dead. That was back in season 3 episode 3: Further Instructions

So I gotta believe that this is now canon for the "O6 cover-story" ...

- 8ppl (Jack, Sun, Kate, Hurley, Boone, Libby, Sayid, & Charlie) survive the crash of Oceanic flight 815.

- Floated for over a day until the current took the survivors (all Cool towards the island of Membata.

- Boone dies on Membata a few days afterwards due to massive internal injuries.

- Libby dies within the next couple days (no explanation given to cause of death)

- Kate gives birth to Aaron on the island of Membata.

- Charlie drowns a few weeks before the "O6" can leave the island of Membata.

- Day 103 - A typhoon washes what is left of an Indonesian fishing boat, including a survival raft.

- Day 108 - "O6" arrive on the island of Sumba.

So, did anyone notice how Jack is telling half-truths now ... The ways in which Boone, Libby, & Charlie died is true, but everything else in the story is fabricated.

The art of a good lie is that it has it's basis in fact.

I read that somewhere.
