I was going to start one of those silly polls...
I'll just say that I think Jin is still alive.
In the midst of all the confusion, Sun tells Michael that she's preggers.
(Is it just me or did it seem like Michael was wondering if it's his?)
and Michael says to Jin to go because he has a family now.
Michaels sacrifice would not hold as much weight if Jin is dead.
The return of Harold Parrinau is sorely lacking in significance as it is. imho. _________________ Joopİ |

@Joop,
I totally agree with you!
- Jin is alive
- I interpreted the "Sun telling Michael she was preggers" scene the same way (I saw the "Is it mine" look in Michael's reaction).
- You aren't the only 1 who thought Harold Perrineau's return was lacking ... Harold Perrineau Dishes on his Lost Exit _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

Excellent find ebonX...it was a little lacking and never really seemed to fit in with everything else going on. The emotional impact of his redemptive actions and subsequent death were overshadowed by other story lines and the questionable timeline given to explain Walt and Michael's return to society.
Minor downer for an otherwise stellar season. _________________ "I dust a bit...in addition, I am at the moment writing a lengthy indictment against our century. When my brain begins to reel from my literary labors, I make an occasional cheese dip."

I totally agree with you guys over michaels storyline being overshadowed and lacking a certain impact.
I also felt walt appearing to hurley was just so we could see walt and didnt give walt as a character much substance.. what does he do now.. go home with his grandmother and bake cakes? He could've told hurley something cryptic that would make us wonder about something until next season, His appearance was.... wasted i felt.
Sorry.... COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC there ..
Anyways back on topic.. as i mentioned in another post
I hope jin's not dead, but its looking bleak for him... Perhaps he's inside the field surrounding the island and so is the zodiac... maybe he'll be picked up by them towards the start of season 5??
I can see that as being one of the only probable ways of jin surviving as i think he'd have his work cut out for him swimming from the freighter to the island which was pretty far. _________________ 108 |

Doubt Jin is dead now.
I'll admit I thought he was cause of Sun's reaction to his tombstone. But she and the rest think he is dead, so her reaction is true.
But lest us not forget Dan and his boat. They probably head to the remains of the freighter. Find Jin unconcious, rescue him and some how the group gets rescued too at some point.
Otherwise Dan's character is a waste too! |

That's a great point GatorRock!!!
I like the idea that Faraday (in the zodiac) rescues survivors from the freighter & returns them to the Island.
And that would leave a group of Losties (albeit, mostly redshirts) for Sawyer & Juliet to lead. _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |

If Jin is alive then where is he ?
Lets say Dans group picked him up - they couldn't have gone back to
the island cos it aint there.
Lets say Dans group make it to another island or they get picked up -
why hasn't he contacted Sun ? Its been 3 years.
To go against my own argument, we didn't actually SEE Jin die.Our
Losties deaths have always been 'in your face' deaths. |

It's a bit tenuous but suppose Jin gets blown into the sphere or influence of the island. Then Dan (who is still in it too) finds him and they all go back to the island.
Unlikely as the copter remained outside the sphere of influence but maybe they had flown away initially due to the exploding boat.
It's a bit of a stretech though and I would guess Jin is dead, Dan and the others are ok and just head back to the island.
The only other option I can see for Jin being alive is that he is floating around with some debris when Penny finds him later (after the O6 have gone on their way) and he has to avoid going back to Sun because of the O6 story. This seems even more unlikely though... |

You make a good point about the zodiac's position in relation to the copter & the freighter (at the time of the Island move) ... I re-watched the scene where the Island moves & in it, the zodiac (with Daniel & redshirts on-board) is bathed in a purple light during the event. I can only assume this means that they are close enough in proximity to the Island that they move along with them (as they are shown to be enveloped in the same light as the Others, the Island, and Sawyer & Juliet). If you noticed, they never show Lapidus's copter become enveloped by the "purple light".
However, there is a reason to think that any freighter survivors may have reached the Island (or at least within the "envelope" when it moves) ... And that is that Lapidus & Faraday had an specific heading in which they were to follow (305), but that does not mean that the freighter was on that exact same bearing ... Remember that the freighter appears behind the copter during the ep.
As for your other idea, that Jin gets rescued by Penny after the "O6" move along to the Indian Ocean, I don't think it could happen ... Penny spent the week (following the "O6" rescue) travelling from the South Pacific to Indonesia to transport the "O6" near the island of Sumba, so that their cover-story fits. _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus |
