I don't think so. His name was Mr Avellino and I'm sure he was on the list and this was a task carried out in the Seychelles. Elsa was killed in Berlin. _________________ I'm Back |

According to Lostpedia his name is "Mr. Avellino" ... I assume that he had ties to the same people that Naomi & Elsa worked for. |

Thanks for the link lpearl ...
From that website ...
"Lawyer at the ecclesiastical court at Naples. During a heated courtroom argument on behalf of a friend, he supported his position with a lie; in that setting, he had committed perjury. It shook him so badly, he gave up the legal profession, and settled into a life of penance."
If this is Mr. Avellino's backstory, it would fit nicely with his appearance in the flashforward ... He is an Oceanic lawyer (similar to Abaddon?) who was involved with the whole "Oceanic 6" cover-up. It would explain Avellino's reaction when Sayid ways he is one of the "Oceanic 6". |

I'm guessing he was one of the people who was on 'the list' that Sayid mentions.

That's a really good point, but surely he would recognise that he was one of the Oceanic 6 from just looking at him after all the media coverage? |

Unless Mr. Avellino never actually met any of the O6 in-person ... maybe he only saw them on TV.
Also, what point in the future could Sayid's flashforward be taking place? It could be after Jack's flashforward (which we know is ~3years after current Island time. If it's more than a couple years in the future, I will accept that Mr. Avellino doesn't recognize Sayid. |

That's a good point actually, I didn't see any indications of the time it was set in, but if it was a few years after their return I can see him not being recognised. |

I think the bigger irony here is that Saint Avellino is the patron saint against sudden death--and perhaps more interestingly for a holy death. Does this imply that Sayid's act is indeed holy and Ben's contention that his list contain only deserving victims is, in fact, true. (Ben telling the truth...perhaps there is something to that "good twin" theory.) |
