As the sat phone's radio waves change the point of entry to the Island (by movement of satellites in Earth's orbit or by FF movement on the Island), the "phase-shifting" of the signal changes, and thus the signal would need to be re-calibrated from time to time in order to "clean up" the comm line.
Would that re-calibratiion happen every 108 mins ?
Is this why the Others comms are down ? _________________ Mark B.

TIME DIFFERENTIAL: BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD?
For a couple weeks now, we've been trying to figure out the significance of Daniel Faraday's rocket experiment, which seemed to establish a 31-minute time differential between the Island and the freighter. However, ''The Constant'' suggested (at least to me) another possibility: it could be that the Island and the freighter are in synch, and that the rocket gained the extra time while flying through the turbulent perimeter of the anomaly. This is all to say, I think we need to reconsider the idea that ''time passes more slowly on the Island'' until we get more data.
IMHO, a good way to think about the time-relationship between the Island & the outside world is that both entities do exist in the same space-time (which explains why radio signals are not effected by the apparent "time-shift" to/from the Island) and only massive objects (not EM radiation/light) are affected by a time-shift when travelling to/from the Island. _________________ "Destiny is a fickle bitch!" - Benjamin Linus
