Sorry if this threads already been made.
So im wondering... what happened to cause locke to get off the island... And more importantly how did he die? Remember when abbadon said he owed him one was his repayment to him that of his life?
Will Locke stay dead or does the fact that ben tells jack that they must bring locke back to the island mean that he will somehow be resurrected on the island again, much like he was resurrected from that gun shot wound?

Locke must have left the island to get all these folks back... some crazy bad stuff went down after they left and he needed them back to fix it.

how he died?  well, my guess is, eventually locke gets played for the fool one last time... this time by the island itself...it lets him die.

I think if you die off the island you are good and dead for sure.

Off topic a bit, but now that we know Locke's the one in the coffin I look forward to re-watching his flash forward scenes from the Season 3 finale.

I think that when Locke's body gets back to the island he will be alive and well the Christian type of way.
Did you notice how very mutch alike the two cofins actually are?
The others must have a problem communicating with Jacob since there isn't any Locke, Ben or Hurley to do that for them.

I haven't listened to the podcast yet, so if I'm copying from what they say, it isn't intentional.

THE KEY is Locke's fake name: Jeremey Bentham.  I actually was familiar with Bentham before the episode--namely that he was in favor of mummifying or preserving bodies and keeping them around... kind of a living art that's dead.  To this day, his body is dragged out every 50 years or so for some meeting or another.

So Bentham is dead--but not.  So's Locke, me says!

preserved untiil they return him to the island? , i like that.
I was also thinking perhaps it was the island projecting this to jack and the others in a way to lure them back. By seeing locke dead, jack will feel guilty (and ya know how guilt tears jack up inside) and force those to come back to the island one way or another.
But i think the preserved body makes more sense.

Theres also a theory floating around that the serum of the Medusa spider is coursing through lockes veins and that he is only paralyzed, but this doesnt seem to hold as the serum only lasts 8 hours on the infected... unless he was administered a LARGE dose.

I like the idea that Brewski hinted at that Abaddon's favor that Locke owes to him is somehow related to Locke's apparent suicide in 2008 ... Similar to Ben (helping Jack & co. return to the Island), maybe Abaddon's plan is for Locke to die in the real world, knowing that his body will eventually be returned to the Island, and thus will lead him back to the Island.

Now, if true, this idea has some interesting implications ... (1) That would mean that Christian Shephard may have once been an Island native/avatar and (2) Locke will be "resurrected" once he returns to the Island.

Locke reanimated .... a short step to the zombie season. And a sure fire shark jump. The thought of Locke shrugging back into life and climbing out of his coffin would surely kill LOST.

It's ok with Christian as we don't actually know it's really him, it could be smokey, in fact if it is his actual body then I'm going to be sooo disappointed.

I said at the time, on the other forum, that when Jack is on the bridge
and ready to jump he says "Locke forgive me".

Have a listen closely....am I right or just hearing what I want to hear.

Ok, theory hour:

The Oceanic 6 leave the island. Locke is now the Leader, but some time later things go to hell. So, Locke travels to the past and tries to bring the boys back to the island. But he dies. FUTURE Locke dies.
So, the Oceanic 6 finally get back to the island (because we all know they will) and they find Locke pre-time travel, when everything is about to go to hell. And they all have to find out what went wrong in the future, as they have been warned.

Dude, time travel makes my head hurt...
