Alright just be honest for a second, which would you rather see in the car, all setbacks aside? I doubt the answer is the sr20. Now if we can research everything before he even buys the motor, we can plan for most of the BIG problems we will incur, surely anyone who has ever worked on cars know things never go 100% as planned. But we can figure out most of the shit before we even get started, bc ppl have done this swap before.
I would rather build the stock motor thats already in there than see him put a 4 cyl in there. _________________ Speedin from Sweden |

All money and need of machanical ability aside...because that's what I was looking at...Not what would be cooler... I would rather see a twin Snail rb26dett.....In a skyline..... and I suppose in his car too! But what does he want out of this car??? Is it worth it? Does he know that by the time he's done if he wants something show quality and fast he's looking at over 20 grand easy! _________________ -Dave..."fast, reliable, or cheap...pick two" |

So Is this going to be slap in a motor and see what breaks? then fix it...
Or like what I did..Welll these bushing suck...change it....these ball joints are worn out...change it....All this rusty shit is going to break...change it...
If not he will be working on it all the time but won't spend a ton of money. at first..
The body is in OK shape..he's not going to have it sprayed? _________________ -Dave..."fast, reliable, or cheap...pick two" |

On ebay it's $4,500 for just the motor! No turbos, no timing cover, no intercooler, no ECU, no tranny.
That's my argument...Is he willing to spend over $10,000 on drivetrain alone and then find out that his clutch fork is bent...Order from Japan since there is no great support for the rb26 over here drop the damn thing and get it running again. then two months down the road he roasts his 20 year old rear end because he's putting down so much power and has to source one of those...I am starting to think to just keep it stock and make it more efficent. Taking something rare and droping into something rare is a bad combo in my book...Unless it's a 4g63 powered mail truck!

ha! No I am just bored and think it's a really bad idea. I just think everyone talks and doesn't explain to Danny all that's involved $$$$..and personally I'm just starting to get past the point in my life where I don't waste much time on talking about what's not realistic...I mean who would know better than I about time and cost of something like this....And think about how easy my motor swap is because it's the same motor with the exception of a few things. _________________ -Dave..."fast, reliable, or cheap...pick two" |

Well why dont we have a Z planning meeting before we start the project, bc it is def going to be somewhat of a club project, at least from my perspective. I know a few of us are going to invest a large amount of time into it, helping him out. So if we can get everyones insight and most of the facts together, we can help danny make a smart decision.
I just hate when ideas are ruled out prematurely, when ALL of the facts arent known. Danny has done a fair amount of research on this already. _________________ Speedin from Sweden |

I have the same feeling about this as Joel's Saturn...We all thought it was cool as shit! When he was spending the money...Then we did the Joel you need this ECU and that, then shit kept breaking....Joel launch it already.....That was a terrible idea why did we do that again...
So we supported it untill Joel and everyone else saw that...
1. the car could never handle the power...(exp. tranny)
2. It took thousands more than Joel already dumped into it to simply be a low 13 sec car.
3. Due to the rareness of it there was little support.
4. Nobody local wanted to touch it.
5. It had no value once it was completed.
I am willing to bet that his car will fit 4 out of 5 of those.
I just making an arguement...that's what a forum is for isn't it? _________________ -Dave..."fast, reliable, or cheap...pick two" |

Danny will be so proud that he sparked such a debate! I would be. It's cracked off two pages in the first two days that it's been open! _________________ -Dave..."fast, reliable, or cheap...pick two" |
