yea i have no idea about the igntion system on sr's, but im guessing a ignitor is similar to my direct ignition cassette, which if failing would give about the same symptoms. Thats a good place to start at least. Make sure all your vac lines are connected too, the wrong thing not getting a signal will make everything act all goofy.

hot as hell spells bad coil/bad delivery in my book also.... My cop got very hot when it went bad...I guess it didn't have anywhere to send the juice it was building...kinda like an overcharged battery...

update: igniter is good i put it on an already running redtop and it starts no problem, so....we got good coils and igniter, now ive also found that just when i turn the key forward the igniter gets hot
my friend that did the wiring believes that the problem is in the wiring or the ecu, but if it was the ecu why would the igniter get hot? i understand that the igniter gets its power from the ecu but why would it "short" the igniter? eh my head hurts

hum...I don't know...bad wiring would cause a hot spot in the wiring or no signal at all....bad wiring I would think wouldn't fire the car up and run it...unless what your saying is that it's firing with the key in the run position and the start position before the car starts...then it's a matter of finding the correct wire that sends a signal to the coils in start only untill the car is running...then it's on all the time...

update: put my ecu on my friends SR started right up, my friend compared the pins on it and they are suppose to be the same well.......there not so that leaves me with a possible late model sr20 out of the 180sx typex 97-98 so....the E5 ecu wont start the motor what i need is the J4 ecu and it should start
someone else had this problem and they posted it on a forum as "help igniter is getting very hot"
me and spoolinhybrid went through it all and this guy had all the same issues i had this is why we are leaning toward the late model SR

That would make a lot of sense. How hard is it to get a J4 ecu?

more fuel for thought
i was looking at the ecu pin out for the E5 ecu and J4 ecu and found that the Ignition Signals are as follows fo the E5 Coil1-1     Coil2-2   Coild3-8   Coil4-9
now the J4 Coil1-1   Coil2-3    Coil3-5   Coil4-25
geeeee wonder why it dont start if i have an E5 computer with a J4 harness

and its probably just gonna be easier for me to repin the coil wires and move  that tach signal wire  since we prob wont ever hear from slow mo because they cant answer their phones or call people back.

Yea rewiring shouldnt be that bad, and prolly way faster than trying to get ahold of them. I heard they had pretty good service, but any tuning company can be real hard to get ah.old of when you need them too. If you repin that harness, the old style ecu should be able to supply the correct signal tho?

ya everything is the same and the pinout for the rest is the same. you just move the tach signal wire over one and put the coil pins in the right spot.  the blanks you have left over are blank anyway on the e5 ecu. he just called again today and they gave him another....oh well we are waiting for the importer to call back bullshit.. so they told him they will call back by the end of the day and if they dont then im gonna just repin it. its not worht the wait
