I agree with Francis when she says that it seems many minorities today seem to make it their mission to try and obtain acceptance as an American group via "whiteness". It's such a shame that one of the longstanding (and unsaid) American values is the measure of someone's "white" factor. It really is a disservice because, first of all America isn't (obviously) just white (yet somehow this ideal has remained a constant) and second it doesn't recognize all of the other founding cultures that makes up our country. And yes, I said all of the other founding cultures, because although the English may have taken the credit, they weren't the only ones here inhabiting our country when it was initially founded.
