No, it's because Ace is so ashamed and depressed for costing Gene the #1 spot on the charts.

Yes, we overwhelmed understocked Wal-Marts. Didn't you guys hear this on the national news??
I, too, must've missed the news reports about the huge mobs of angry Kiss fans unable to find a copy of Sonic Boom at their local Wal-Mart, stampeding through the streets bricking windows and overturning/torching parked cars.
What's more, I'm surprised he didn't blame the economy, the gas shortage of the '70s, and "Cold Turkey" going down in the charts for this.
Oh yeah, and don't forget that Ace is partially responsible, because "Ace did nothing."
