When I ask this, realise that I come a big bloody dessert country! How do you move the sleds on tarmac like that? Won't it damage the tractor belt and/or skidplates? _________________ 2005 Titan I 250cc single seater

Well not really. The skis have what they call wear bars that have carbide inset into them and the track is made of kevlar. these components are very durable as you well know. Snow is basically just needed to help steer the thing and to lubricate the slides which press against the track, part of the suspension, made out of hyfax, what ever that is.
Do a search on snowmobile grass drags, you'll see the durablity there.
Snowmobiles are truely amazing machines. _________________ Demetrio aka D

Ahhh, yay to carbide! I saw video of this (now diceased) Ghost Rider character in Sweden, and was running a sled/skidoo/whatever up and down the streets of Stockholm annoying the police. It appeared as though the roads were bare, and I always wondered how taxing that would've been on the components without the intended surface...?
Oh, I should add that the sled was VERY fast and highly manouverable! (as you well know I guess). I haven't been to Sweden, but if their roads are anything like they are in Norway, then they are bloody rough! In Bergen, and parts of Oslo, the roads are made from old cut rocks (pavers), and quite noticeable when driving over. I would hate to negotiate some of the cities there in my Mazda with low profile tyres... _________________ 2005 Titan I 250cc single seater

I used to watch guys Drag these things with street bikes at the track. They just had “roller blades” instead of skies. _________________ Hi |
